THE BODY SHOP TEA TREE OIL

Bonjour Peaches,

I got so many requests to do this post back when I did the haul post, God knows I was under the impression I did the post, having done so many mini reviews in inbox ^_^ ,..... but I haven't.Pardon my memory slip.Sleeplessness is to be blamed here (Ahhh I can seriously use some sleep).Well enough with the irrelevancies, lets get on with the post.

First thing first what is tea tree oil?

"Tea tree oil (TTO), or melaleuca oil, is an essential oil with a fresh camphoraceous odor and a color that ranges from pale yellow to nearly colorless and clear. It is taken from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia, which is native to Southeast Queensland and the Northeast coast of New South WalesAustralia. Tea tree oil should not be confused with tea oil, the sweet seasoning and cooking oil from pressed seeds of the tea plant Camellia sinensis (beverage tea) or the tea oil plant Camellia oleifera."

So that's about all the information you will need on tea tree oil.It is anti inflammatory and antiseptic.Basically it belongs in the medicine cabinet, but owing to its anti inflammatory properties it is used in acne medicine and beauty creams.

The only way I could get almost pure Tea tree oil in Pakistan without losing an arm and a leg was The body Shop Tea tree oil.So I got that one in small size.

The colorless oil comes in a green bottle. The oil is sensitive to light so the colored bottle protects it from disintegrating.

The best thing I like about this oil is the ease of use.All you have to do is take a drop and use it after washing your face.It works great on acne. While it will not kill your pimple completely it will stop that throbbing, painful, angry red zit in its tracks. So it works great as an adjuvant to anti acne treatment. One drop of the oil on effected area checks the inflammation and pain very effectively. However, the pimple can still resurface so to get rid of it you need to use a good anti acne medication like benzoyl peroxide or isotretinone.

On very hot summer days when my skin would become hopelessly oily I apply a very small drop to my T-zone at night. In the morning my skin behaved relatively better.

I also use it during home facials. After scrubbing and cleaning I use a drop or two for whole face and let it sit there for five to ten minutes. This improves the appearance of pores and reduces oiliness alot.

It might not be a wonder drug but still I feel safe to have it in my medicine cabinet.I recommend all the girls who have acne to keep a bottle on their shelves for those days when you wish something would make the pimple a little less aggressive.

PS:I have tried other Tea tree products like the face was and moisturizer, but it was a bit drying so if you want to try the TBS Tea tree range I would say try only one thing at the time and not the whole range.

  3. I am so intrigued by all sorts of oils! I have one more tea tree oil product in my stash now from TBS, since the pore minimiser. It's the night time lotion that I was gifted by a friend! Can be drying but I certainly love it for spots! :) x

p.s: Long time, no see?! Why, eh? xx

  6. I have tried tea tree oil and I loved it, it smells great has so many uses, the good thing about it that its natural and it is being used in so many skin care products in Pakistan, a big recommendation for skin tags, it also improved the look of my pores too, so it is a great thing for skin in general.
