20 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT ME

Hello peaches,

Kindly forgive my long absence, but I was trying to juggle my routine.I will try to do one post per week from now.

Ok this is quite an interesting title. My dear friend Sana literally held a gun to my head to write this post and to CPR my blog. :p joking.Emmm yeah kind of :p I hope you all find it amusing if not shocking :) Do let me now in comments.

I don't have lots of branded lawn joras in my wardrobe. In fact I try to avoid it on purpose.I know its unlike a blogger, but the lawn fever irritates me at time, especially at tea parties I attend where ladies showoff their beautiful "branded" overpriced,totally-not-suitable-for-heat-of-june dresses .All I can do is to keep my eyeballs from rolling literally in to the back of my head.I mean seriously all that should matter is the cut and the look not how many thousands you paid and not which designer ripped you off .

ok so here goes...

1)-Answer the tag questions with photos.

2)-Thank the blogger who tagged you and link back to their blogs in the post.

DIY: OLD WALL TROPHY MAKEOVER

Hello all,

Happy new year.I hope you had an awesome start of the new year. The arrival of new year is just the turning of calendar page, but with the right resolutions and determination you really can make a fresh start for your self. This year I resolve to study more, take my long pending exam and do more DIY/tutorial posts.

I love DIY projects. With some imagination you can recycle the old things from around the house into pretty decorations. The post today is about something awesome I achieved and wanted to share with you girls.I have so many old wall trophies lying around the house. They have lost their meaning over the years and aren't very pretty so can't be displayed. Most were solid wood so I didn't want to toss them in the bin. After mulling over what to do with them,I finally found a way.

Take a look:

STORAGE SOLUTIONS...DIY TOY BOX

Every night before going to bed I go through the tedium of putting all the toys back to where they belong.Being obsessed with categorization makes it even more tough. What every mum needs is more baskets and more shelves to make the job easier.A good, stylish basket that goes with the theme is like 600-1000 PKR.So,I decided to make my own. ^_^

STORAGE SOLUTIONS...DIY TOY BOX

THINGS NEEDED:

1)- A good sized carton...one that suits your requirement.2)-An old pair of pants, jeans or any fabric you want to use for exterior.3)-Fabric for the interior of box.4)-White german glue or any PVA glue(Available at stationary shops ans hardware store for pkr 60 to pkr 100).5)-A spatula or butter knife to spread glue.

SEVEN DEADLY SINS OF MAKEUP TAG

What is your most delicious beauty product?
This one has to be my lipsticks.Luscious Ultra shine Lip gloss in "crush" has to be one.

ME AND MY WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

After getting married alot changes in a girl's life. For example she has to learn to get used to the concept of  a used, wet towel lying frequently on her bed or has to keep picking up shoes and socks littering the floor.**sighs** Well don't worry girls marriage is not all about pickin up stinky socks and getting used to Aftershave lotion in your toiletteries. Its rainbows and butterflies(sometimes) and compromise..(I love this track by maroon 5,changed the wording a little though).Anyways, lets not scare the one who are ready to tie the knot **knowing smile**.

Ladies, the real secret to a succesful marriage is not letting the small joys of life pass unnoticed. Life can never  be that  love story where the boy loves every step his beloved takes, but it can be a Romantic comedy where things do not go as planned most of the time, but love never takes a back seat.

Enough with the philosphy, lets take a look at how I decided to make an occasion out of my wedding anniversary by dressing up and arranging a DESI candle light dinner.I knew my husband will not be interested in taking us all out, because he had  a long day at work(and he didn't even remember what day it was).I also knew he didn't buy me any gift, but to enjoy some time togather I ignored it(the gift part wasnt easy to ignore **sniff**).So what you see below is a result of MY one full day in kitchen, with skin care and cooking going togather.

I am sharing a precious memory with you girls.Do drop your love in the comment box,I will wait.

Where Is The World Going

I normally don't write posts on Saturdays. However, the topic, which made me break my

Saturday silence is actually a TV serial all the Pakistani viewers are aware of...KITNI

GIRHEIN BAQI HAIN.(still many knots to untie).

I occasionally watch this show.It plays a new story in every episode so suits mommy

perfectly(no follow ups etc).

cafe monal, islamabad ,pakistan

I love dining out. My husband has a real busy routine, and we don’t get much time to go

out, but whenever there is an occasion we try to make the best of it.

When I cleared my commission exam we decided to celebrate. The choice of place was

left to me, and I had the place in my mind, long before we had a reason to celebrate J

CAFÉ MONAL  in pir sohawa:

I, first, saw the place when my hubby took us all there, uninformed. He just wanted me

to keep quite and wait, which was kinda difficult, given that it was near midnight and we

were headed towards damn-e-koh Islamabad(altitude=3900ft amsl.)

After almost 20min of squealing at every risky turn,(I have really become a chicken

heart after my two babies coz it wasn’t that risky after all) we reached pir sohawa.

I was like,OH MY GOD. The beauty is breath taking. Whole city of Islamabad spread

along the horizon, glowing and winking , is just mind blowing. The cool breeze playing

on taha’s face made him tickle and giggle.

We rounded a turn and there it was…CAFÉ MONAL

face painting

Face painting is really fun for toddlers and for mothers too.Face painting kits are

easily available in toy stores and even stationary stores.

If you want to make your own paints here is the recipe.I have not tried it,but other

parents say its good.

Recipe 1:

  • 1 tsp. Cornstarch
  • ½ tsp. Cold cream
  • ½ tsp. Water
  • food coloring (variety of colors)

Mix together cornstarch and cold cream until well blended. Add water and stir. Add food

coloring one drop at a time until you get the desired color.

If you don't have cold cream, you can substitute with a white flour and vegetable

shortening(margarine)or corn syrup mix.

Recipe 2:

  • 3 tblsps. Cornstarch
  • 1tblsp. Flour
  • 3/4 cup Karo light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • ½ tsp. Liquid food coloring

Mix cornstarch and flour together in a bowl. Gradually stir in Karo syrup and water

until smooth. Divide mixture into individual containers as needed and tint each one

with the food coloring of your choice. Leave one batch untinted.

Blood

You can easily make fake blood by combining light cornstarch with red and blue food

coloring and a dash of milk. Use a paintbrush to apply.

                        Special Effects

wart:

Make your little witch stand out with a simple gelatin recipe. All you need

is:

1 ounce of gelatin, 2 tablespoons of boiling water, couscous, paprika or

colored sugar, and 4 tablespoons corn syrup.

Combine the gelatin and water but don't let it set completely in the bowl.

Add the couscous, paprika, or colored sugar as needed. Drip it onto a side

plate and when it sets, stick it on your child's face with a bit of corn syrup

as "glue".

SCAR:

You can make scars by taking pink tissue paper and mixing it with corn

syrup. The paper will turn into a paste that you can then apply to your

child's face.

Clown Makeup

Make your child into a funny clown with 2 tablespoons of shortening, 5 teaspoons of

cornstarch, 1 tablespoon of flour and a bit of petroleum jelly. Make a few small bowls of

this and add different food coloring to each to make a rainbow of colors.
