As you all know I am the proud owner of a clarisonic mia.I got it two years ago. Here is the detailed post.It was my first impression post after using it for a month.
An update was in order since long, but there was nothing to add or amend.Mia was working as good as ever. Its use was an off and on thing for me.Sometimes when I felt like it was too much work and skipped it for weeks. However, last year I was wearing makeup to work regularly and thought it wise to whip this cleansing system out :) The regular users of MAC foundation must be well aware of its tendency to give you breakouts(read review of mac prolongwear here). So, using Clarisonic became a must for me.During the past few months so much has happened that I felt a need to do this post.
MY EXPERIENCE UPDATE:
Clarisonic gives you uber clean skin.It cleanses skin to the level of pores and even after double cleansing [nivea visage(review) followed by bioderma(review)] there were traces of foundation on my Clarisonic brush. Its true that once you start using clarisonic nothing else can give you the same clean feel.
It makes skin very receptive to night treatments and serums.I have been using it with my Paula's choice 2% pore refining treatment (REVIEW HERE) and I have experienced each of the things the treatment promised. Smaller pores, less oil, less breakouts and smooth skin.It also reduced the amount of foundation required so much so that one drop suffices for full face.
Clarisonic takes away dullness from skin and makes it glow. The radiance and brightness is really visible and you can see the difference with first use.I love this radiance and at times I keep using my Clarisonic for this alone. The brightness along with softness makes you fall in love with your skin.
You need to use a good moisturizer when using this brush because it does clean your skin thoroughly and you need to replace the oils it might have stripped away.My favorite are Origin plantscription day moisturizer and Aveeno brightening moisturizer.
The noteworthy development is change of brush.I was using the brush for sensitive skin and I switched to Acne brush head. I.I was afraid at first to be frank.People said such horrible things about acne head brush like more breakouts and red skin. However,I did not experience any of this. The simplest reason can be that acne brush head has been reviewed by people with very fair skin.European skin types are sensitive then Asian skin so its understandable that they found acne brush head harsher.Anyhow, here is my experience with acne brush head.
The acne brush head is the same size as the sensitive brush head and functions along same line.It is very plush. The fibers are softer and denser then the sensitive brush. This ensure deeper cleaning.I felt it was more effective then sensitive brush in cleansing my skin.It left my skin clearer and kept acne at bay. There was a reduction in blackheads and it was more noticeable then the time I was using sensitive brush.
All in all I did not experience any redness or harmful effects on my skin.I love this brush and will repurchase for sure.
It pains me to say this, but my clarisonic maybe slowly dying. The battery time which after 12 hours of use gives almost 7 minutes of cleansing has reduced to just 3-4 minutes.I have read that this can happen. In some cases this problem starts in the first year. However,in my case it started this year, almost 2 years after purchase. Clarisonic does not offer repairs or replacements.Since i did not buy it directly from the official site my mia is not even covered in guarantee.I got it through a fb page and did not get the reciept at that time.(clearly it was my mistake).
Well all this means only one thing.I might have to repurchase my mia since the battery of this one when it is finally dead will not be replaceable.I have read that people do open it up(against instructions) and replace the battery with simple AA batteries. This fixes the problem and mia becomes as good as new.Well,I will definitely enlist the help of my electronic geek brother for this when time comes and let you know how it worked.
I think its poor customer service on part of Clarisonic that they do not offer replacement batteries or repairs. This might be a marketing gimmick to get people to buy more devices.
That was all for the re-review/update girls.Have you used Clarisonic or any other brush system?share your views in the comment box below.
