THE ORIGINAL BEAUTY BLENDER

Hi all,

I hope you all are enjoying the slow transition into fall season. The hot days and balmy nights.I love this time of year.I mean use to,but kids get infections in this season so quickly that I get scared now.

Ok,I was saving this post for next week, but peer+reader pressure has led me to an early publishing.I have been getting so many requests on this review that I just had to do it for my pretties <3

THE ORIGINAL BEAUTY BLENDER

THE ORIGINAL BEAUTY BLENDER

THE ORIGINAL BEAUTY BLENDER

I got this sponge from "The Beauty Broadway" in PKR 3550.Here is the haul post. This was the best deal available at that time.(The blender was priced at 2990pkr for a single sponge at some pages. The duo was even costlier at other pages). The owner of 'The Beauty Broadway' page was highly professional and very very sweet. She gave me free shipping and although I ordered only two days before EID,I got it the next day.The payment got late too,but the page owner again cooperated a lot.She is a very very sweet person.Do check out her page. She has tons of mouth watering makeup available.

Now,the sponge.Well I had it on my wishlist since long. The moment I saw a good deal I grabbed it. :D

Ok so it comes in a plastic jar with a holder to keep it pinned to the floor of jar.You have to remove the holder first so that the sponge doesn't get stuck between the plastic teeth.I use that holder as a dry stand for the blender now ^_^

The plastic platform inside is to hold the sponges

The new sponge was a roughly the size of an Egg.The texture is NOT like a sponge at all.It is softer and more compressible.I have used all varieties of sponges from porous to rubbery ones, but this is something new.It is very soft and not rubbery at all, (this is probably, because there is no latex in it). Before use you have to hold it under running water and squish, squish squish. Then LO and behold...The thing becomes double the size.I watched it expand with excited amusement. When it has reached full size you just squeeze all the water out and dry it in a towel.

The sponge should NOT be damp.Otherwise it will thin your foundation and result will be sheer coverage. It should feel dry-ish.Don't worry it does not completely dry with all the towel and tissue drying. It takes a DAY to dry out completely and then it returns to its original size.I was sad when I saw it go back to the way it was...small.I mean I wish I could go back to my pre pregnancy size this easy :P

Ok now dab the foundation in small dots over your face.Work in sections for better finish.Now...bounce,bounce,bounce.That's it.You get flawless face in a jiffy.

The finish is oh-so-smooth and this is coming from a girl with open pores, acne scars and hyper pigmentation. The foundation looks natural and airbrushed(I have genuine respect for you Rhea Ann Silva for inventing this).

The beauty blender works with all kind of foundations. Its best comes in use when you are working with thick or quick setting or cream foundations.I use Bourjois 123 Perfect which sets pretty fast, but just to check I dotted my face with it and let it go dry.Like 5-7 minutes.Afterwards,I dabbed and bounced the beauty blender and viola, the finish was better then ever.

Take a look at the photos below.I have compared the finish to bare skin. These are all untouched photos :) {Airbrushing a photo showing complexion product should be a crime :P]

Now ,here the foundation has been blended with fingers.

With the beauty blender

Compare and see that with fingers the result is sheerer and rough. Not even close to the air brushed look.I hope you can appreciate the difference as it was.

Now,the most common question I am being asked ever since I got the blender is...Is it better then Sigma F-80 flat kabuki?Do I need to buy the Beauty blender when I own a Sigma F 80?

The answer is below in the photo.I found the finishes of the beauty blender and Sigma F-80 kabuki the SAME.See for your self.I compared the application a lot of times.with extreme care and off offhandedly too.Whichever way they were compared I saw no difference.

ADVANTAGES OF BEAUTY BLENDER OVER SIGMA F 80:

I find the blender easy to use.I mean you don't need to be the master of stippling technique or the Best-At-Buffing to get an airbrushed look with the beauty blender. You just get it in a breezy sort of way. However, with sigma you should know how to use the brush and how not to use it too.See a few videos to learn and of course practice. So,in the hands of a master BB and sigma are same, but in the hands of a mummy jee, juggling makeup and babies, BB can save time and effort.

So,if you don't own any of them,go for the blender. But if you have sigma F 80 then don't waste your money.

A MISCONCEPTION:

A common misconception is that dupes of BB can work as great as the real thing.I would like to clear that if you do have BB on your wishlist then don't waste your money on Dupes.Nothing comes close to it.The people suggesting that dupes and BB are almost same, are pros and MUAs(make up artists). They can of course cover the gap between dupes and original with technique, but you(I am looking at the newbies here) can not.So don't waste money on a PKR 1000 worth dupe which will tear in a month.

PS:Still If you know of a good dupe from experience do let me know too **winks**
I

A few point on the downside would be:

1-It takes up a whole day to dry.
2-It needs to be prepared before use.Like squeezing under water, towel drying. Can be a hassle if you are in a hurry.
3-I fear if I use it too much it might break or tear early.(It feels so soft and fragile.Only time can prove me wrong,I  hope it does).
4-It is so over priced.I mean i love it,but still it is costly.
5-A lot of dupes available can make it a little tough for you to get it.I suggest get it from Sephora.

Long story short...I love my Beauty blender ^_^

RECOMMENDED:

Yes,yes,yes

RATING:

In fact this one gets a super heart for being so fantastic.

Ok so that's it about the cult product beauty blender.Do tell me how was the post.Have you used the blender up till now?Do you  know of any good dupes for it?Drop your love in the comment box <3 <3

  2. Brilliant review.

I actually found the result of the beauty blender to be more flawless then that of the Sigma brush. It just seemed more absorbed in the skin and smooth!

I have used the blender and sigma on face simultaneously, plenty of times and what little difference was present, was more felt then seen. The difference,in my case, was not A LOT though,as you can see in the photos.May be our difference of techniques caused this difference in results. :)

    1. Awwww Thank you so much. You are very sweet <3 <3.I am so glad you found the post useful :D yeah i did use BB on one half and sigma on other.I have done it a lot actually :P just to see if there was an difference, but since I didn't find a stark difference I can safely say that if you are comfortable with your brush and getting desired finish then the BB will not take your makeup to the next level.(it is easier to use though.

Your comment made the effort worth while <3.Keep visitng

    1. yeah you are right about the prep part but it is def easier to use then F80. Depends on personal preferences of course Hop you enjoy the F 80 ^_^

  22. hi sara!!
i just love your blog, it is really realy the best beauty blog i ever visit:)
well i wanna know a litle comparison among these foundation, which one should i buy kindly tell me pros n cons of them in comparison, my skin is oily and i want medium coverage.

    loreal true match,
    bourjois 123 perfect foundation
    color studio pro luminous foundation
    revelon color stay foundation
    rimmel stay matee foundation

    thanx

    1. Hi,thaknyou so much for your kind words. My name is shehrzad :D

ok.the Rimmel stay matte and color studio pro luminous don't do very well for oily skin.Especially in summer months.L'Oreal true match has a great formula for oily skin and has a wide shade range which gives it an obvious advantage over Bourjois 123 and Rev color stay. However, the major complaint with it is shade change or oxidation when it meets the skin oils. So,you can try it in store, then let it sit on face for sometime. If it doesn't change or oxidize on you then it is the best for you.You will love it.
Bourjois 123 perfect is a great foundation. It has tone correcters too.so if you have pigmentation problems it will work awesome for you.It has this amazing property of setting and looking like skin.very natural. The only problem is only 4 shades to choose from.
Revlon color stay, while the best formula of foundation I have ever come across has pink undertones.all shades have it and it might work for fair girls. In our skin tones it might look fake especially in daylight.(This foundation is the bestest dupe of makeup forever foundation which has a wide shade range).
So,in the end, from the options you provided,Loreal true match and Bourjois 123 are my recommendation. If you find a shade match in bourjois that would be a safe option and if you don't experience oranging or greying of Loreal then it would be your best foundation ever :D
Bear in mind that both give a matte finish. So,in the three months of extreme winters you will need to reconsider if you don't like the finish :D
      I hope that helps.

  28. How long have you been using the product? Could you please tell me how long long did a single piece last? I heard it's susceptible to tearing.

    1. Hi,
I have used it close to 2years now and now it has blackish spots all over.i think it has caught some mood and I am discarding it now.as for tearing I didn't see any but yes I did feel that vigorous cleaning and rubbing can result in tearing.
