We Asian girls sometimes do feel frustrated because of the fact that foundations come more for neutral and pink undertones then for yellow undertones.(if you don't know what your undertone is read this post first).
Well, today I have a product for you which can solve this problem a little. This powder is coming straight from the makeup box of KIM KARDASHIAN's makeup artist.**feeling excited**.
It is manufactured by BEN NYE company which makes make up for theater artists.Comes in four shades.Basically, its a transparent powder.
It comes with a sifter lid.I have removed only half the tape so that I get a more controlled amount.I just take a little on back of my hand and using velvet sponge I dab it on.
It is very fine milled.I use Mineral hygienics mineral makeup and this powder is even more fine then the minerals. It is very silky in texture and super easy to blend.
After applying foundation,I use my concealer as required, then dab this powder on face especially under eyes.I let it sit there for sometime while I do my hair etc. Then I apply my mattifying powder. Then dust the excess using a fan brush.
This powder is an instant love for me.It gives me a glow,a tone correction and matte look.About the glow.It is more of a matte brightening effect then shimmery,as you can see in Kim's photos.
This keeps oiliness at bay for a long time. However,I do need blotting even with the best of oil controlling products so, yes I did blot after two hours. Apart from a little shine on nose, my makeup stayed in place and fresh. However, when worn over a sunscreen oil is a little difficult to control even with this powder. Also I think I would need something even more powerful to keep me matte in summers of Pakistan especially in the month of June.(I am even thinking about a makeup setting spray now).
The girls who use a cream concealer often complain of creasing problem and if they set it with some powder, it appears powdery and sometime highlights fine lines too. But,the Ben nye powder is one perfect solution to the creasing problem. This is THE BEST thing to set the under eye concealer.Being translucent it does not appear powdery. It gives an instant brightening effect under the eyes.It keeps the concealer from creasing for hours.
It sets the makeup beautifully into a silky matte finish.Blurs the pores if you use the rolling technique.(Read "Ten steps to flawless face" here).
It can also be used on the areas you need to highlight to get a glow without the shimmer, and to set the creamy highlighters .This powder gives a healthy natural glow to face.
It prevents the problem of ashy look and grey foundation.Ever since I started using it I can go in any kind of light without the fear of looking grey or eagle face(white face, dark neck arising due to undertone mismatch).
TIP:
Most BB creams have a problem of looking ashy or grey even if they are a good shade match for you.Mix a small amount of the Ben Nye powder in your BB cream. This will improve coverage, correct undertone mismatch and make the BB cream last ALL day on your face.
2)-Does not look cakey or powdery at all.
3)-Gives a very natural look.
4)-Easy to blend.
5)-Prevents grey look of foundation.
6)-Blurs pores and controls oil.
7)-Great for oily to combination skin types. In winters it might be too dry for normal to combination skin types.
8)-It doesn't clog pores.It doesn't cause breakouts.
9)-Best thing for under eye concealer setting. You will throw out your HD under eye powder after this.
2)-Not suitable for dry skin type.
3)-Can be a little messy at times.
All in all I would say that though it is definitely an ideal translucent makeup setting powder for combination/oily skin. This one is also being called a dupe for MAC setting powder.
