ELF HD BLUSH In SUPERSTAR and HEADLINER

This week has been kinda slow in terms of blogging.I have done a few changes in the blog out look.I hope you like the bloglovin' cartoon of me.I made it all by myself.**feeling proud**.

Anyways,In the past months I developed kind of an obsession with blushes.Pinks, peaches, neutrals and shimmery ones.I tried one of each at least.Well,I even got a liquid blush. Two in fact.(These babies work amazingly well with RT blush brush. To read my review on my favourite Real Technique Blush Brush click here)

As the regular readers are already aware, I try my level best to buy vegan and/or halal(permissible for Muslims) cosmetics now.One company which wins my heart over and over with amazing quality, affordability and a stunning range of makeup is Eyes Lips Face or more popularly known as E.L.F.

The company is vegan(no animal based ingredients,no carmine),no animal testing at all. They are even against using animals furs.I seriously love this company. For more vegan and halal brands read this post.

The HD blushes by ELF created such a sensation. They are considered a very accurate dupe of MUFE HD blushes. So,how was my experience lets read.

ELF HD BLUSH In SHOWSTOPPER and HEADLINER

Well, first of all the packaging is very cute. The blush is almost 3 inches tall.It comes with a pump.

I read in countless reviews that you have to shake well otherwise the oil will come out each time.Maybe the oil and blush separate when left to stand. So,I shook it well and experienced no problems with it.

The product itself is creamy. When you pump it out it feels very creamy and blends easily. Then after application it settles into a matte finish and literally becomes a part of your skin.It doesn't budge no matter how you rub it.Once when application went a little wrong,I tried to wipe it off with my fingers, but it didn't come off .I had to wash my face to clean that area. So,while it is a big advantage it can turn into a disadvantage too,if you don't know how to apply.

I struggled a little to get the hang of application.I don't own a high end blush brush and using my ordinary blush brush to apply this one was a pain and a disappointment at first. Then I finally found a way.Unlike liquid foundation application you don't dot it on your cheeks, but take this blush on the back of hand.now spread it and dab the blush brush in it.Now stipple(pecking movement) it on cheek area. Then quickly blend. It is not very jest-set-dry, but still you have to be quick otherwise you might end up looking like you have been slapped hard **hehe* or an out and out clown...oops.Getting a soft look from a liquid blush requires technique.Once you learn it,it becomes piece of cake.

The staying power is what made me buy this baby .Honestly girls,I was not disappointed at all.I apply it at 7:30am and its still there by 3:pm although a little faded. It stayed even during my work out and after it.As you can see from the photos I have applied very little. And even this teeny weeny amount stays put.

These blushes are uber pigmented.A dot is all I require for both cheeks. If it exceeds my need (as the pump will dispense a fix amount of product every time),I just put in on my lips too.The blush is very matte.Like dead matte on lips.It is very unforgiving when it comes to flaws and flakes. So,lip exfoliation before this is a must. The product stays on lips for 4-5 hours.Stays even through eating and drinking.the only bad thing is it fades unevenly. However,I am using it on my lips a lot these days.It makes a very good base for my lipsticks and increase the wear time.I wearing superstar on my lips too.See the photo above.

Now the shades.Headliner is a blue based pink.Very pretty and girly.I had thought it would be mauve-ish ,but thanks God its pink.Superstar is indeed a superstar.Difficult to handle by everyone, but irresistible. The shade gives a pop of color on face.It brightens up the whole look.Keep a light hand and you get a very natural flush.Build it up a notch and it brightens up the look.I love this one for autumn and winters when one needs some warm shades in blush.I found Headliner much more easy to apply then superstar. Its softer in color and diffuse, but superstar is very intense. You can get away with a little more pink, but not more orange then required. So,less is more when it comes to "superstar"(how true :P )

This one was actually a risky buy because I don't like very pigmented coral shades.I think they bring out the unevenness  of complexion. However, this coral worked good for me and my risk paid off.I would have loved it to be a little shimmery...(guess I should buy NARS orgasm now **sigh**).For night time a little pale gold highlighter with this blush can definitely give you a sultry, hot charm.

In the photo with headliner I am not wearing my primer,in the superstar photo I am wearing Porefessional. You can see the difference in finish.

GOOD POINTS:

1)-Affordable(may not be so in Pakistan, but given the quantity I can live with it)
2)-Super pigmented
3)-Creamy,easily blend able.
4)-Matte finish
5)-Long stay time
6)-Comes in a variety of pretty shades.
7)-Can be doubled up as lip stain or matte lip cream.
8)-Halal and vegan.

BAD POINTS:

1)-Requires technique for application.
2)-You can not use it in a hurry.
3)-If you mess it up,you can not correct it easily.
4)Matte finish so not for dry skin.If you are lazy in exfoliation,it might bring out that dead skin to light.

So,girls I hope you like this review. These blushes were my most wanted for a very long time.Do tell me how you liked it.Have you tried them?which shade is your favorite?

  11. oh wow, I love that coral colored blush, Superstar! Application sounds too tricky and messy, tho. I'm sticking to powder blush. Elf is actually quite a well-known brand.

  13. First off I want to say terrific blog! I had a quick question that I'd like to ask if you don't mind.
I was interested to know how you center yourself and
clear your thoughts before writing. I have had a tough
time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out. I truly do enjoy writing
however it just seems like the first 10 to 15
minutes tend to be wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips?
    Thank you!
