I am sure many of you girls remember the time, when Medora was the only great brand in lipsticks which offered variety. Medora lipsticks used to dominate my mum's vanity.(If you don't know what I am talking about you were either born in very late nineties or didn't have any interest in cosmetics in your childhood). Then gradually other cosmetic companies took over the market and we all forgot this simple,made-in-Pakistan brand.Recently, when shopping for a good red lipstick I found a great shade of red in MEDORA.
So,I have decided to share it with you.You know any good lipstick falls in price range of 200-
400 PKR,and if you want a good red you should be willing to pay more.Read on and I will
disclose the price in the end.
MEDORA MATTE LIPSTICK IN REAL RED
I am wearing shade 06 of MUA nail polish ^_^ |
The packaging is very sturdy. However,I feel that they can improve the lipstick tube colour
from grey to black or some other colour for a sophisticated look. The lipstick has a rich
formula. The colour is a blue-based brilliant red. Colour pay off is amazing. You just need one
swipe to get pretty red lips. This is a great red colour for medium skin tones. I call it "the safe
red" ,because I think it will suit most girls.
Staying power is unbelievable. It stayed on my lips almost for 5-6 hours, after which the luster
and color faded a little.
It gives matte finish, but as you can see in the swatch it still looks very lustrous. The formula is sufficiently creamy .The lip flaws and flakes are not highlighted as the lipstick glides on lips smoothly. So,here this matte red scores another point.
As its a matte formula, you may feel a little dryness on your lips after taking it off and need to moisturize your lips. However, this is totally forgivable, because, unlike most matte formulas,it doesn't appear dry on lips.

The only bad point would be range of colors. Medora offers only bold and dark colors like mauve, magenta, browns and orange in their lipsticks. They can do better if they expand the
color range.
All in all, this lipstick is a great color in a great matte formula, even better than some expensive
drugstore brands. My mum has been a fan since 20 years and will not take ANY brand over this
one,(not even L'Oreal which I think has a pretty good range of lipsticks).
The price is.......PKR90.So,I think for so little price this red baby is a steal.
RECOMMENDED:
Yes, Of course.

ReplyDeletethankyou fab.yes a matte formula can be a bit drying but you see its something one can look over.
DeleteIt helps if you put coconut oil under your lipstick. :D

ReplyDeleteI have a medora for my everyday lipstick but it has reached its end and now the shade is not available :(
ReplyDeleteI have not tried anything from this brand since I been settled in Pakistan but OMG the RED is so flattering <3
ReplyDeleteMy mama has been using it for over more then 22 years.. Now she claims that they're just like chalks with colours you're putting on your lips.. Doesnt adores them as they're no longer moisturized ..Prefers L'oreal red one :-D
ReplyDeleteI envy you since i cant wear this colour :-(
Cheers xx
well maryam i used to think like you about red lipsticks, but this red changed my views.it is pretty good for medium complexion.ummm you r right there are some batches of medora which r not that good but may be that's the seller's fault you know...expired lipstick or something.anyways its price is a major plus, you have to give it that.
Deletei will soon try it out, since the price never burdens over my pocket money :-D
DeleteI have always been tempted to try this out. SO gonna get some Medora lippies very soon. Thanks for the great review! x
ReplyDeleteI can't believe this is so pigmented and beautiful!!! Are Pakistani money Rupees like India and is it the same value??! If so that would be less than $2 Canadian! So pretty...I wish you would share how it looks on your lips! :D
ReplyDeletenope. The proportion is two Pakistani rupees to one indian rupee. So it would be lesser then $2 .Trust me it looks amazing.I don't wear bold colors but it complements my skin so well I love it.
Deletewow beautiful color. I have heard that medroa lipsticks don't contain animal fats or other ingredients that makes it unfit..Used to buy them for my aunt's birthday!
ReplyDeleteit means they are halal.Thank you for sharing the info Namra. Keep visiting.
DeleteMy loves medora too! This color looks good, hope it suits me because I am yet to experiment with any red lippie. Your blog is really helpful for us living abroad because now I know what to get once I am in Pak. Followed ya!

ReplyDeleteDoes it contain lead?
ReplyDeletedearest I am afraid all the red lippies contain lead. Also the longer stay time of a lipstick chances are that it has higher lead levels :-( however there are a few companies that have signed the safe cosmetic compact. Here is my post on lead in lipsticks http://prettypeachyandpink.blogspot.com/2012/09/anyone-up-for-poison-kiss.html
ReplyDeleteAlso you find the list of companies which make toxin free lippies in the link mentioned at the end of post. They are called "champions" for taking out lead and other toxins out of their cosmetics.

DeleteI know exactly what you are talking about. My mom has stuck to medora all her life and even though I have other brands like ST and Revlon too I somehow just keep grabbing the medora one that I have I can never go wrong with it.
ReplyDeleteyes you are very right :) I love medora too.
Deletesalam.I also love medora matte lipsticks shades.really very nice.but now there is a confusion about ingredients used in lipsticks for coloour.I think you know about carmine or E120.do ypu know medora red n pink shades having carmine? If you know about this plz reply. I ll be wait.thanks
ReplyDeleteMedora does not mention ingredients on the packaging. However I do think it has carmine. You can try Luscious lipsticks .They are carmine free.
Deletenice colour
ReplyDeleteSister I read that u use only halal cosmetics and u said medora might have Carmine.. How can we use that then?
ReplyDeleteI started blogging about halal makeup in late 2013 and I mention in my posts (under good points) if the product is halal. This post is an old one and I was not aware of halal haram in makeup. You can always comment and ask to confirm the halal status of a product. As for medora it has carmine and most probably not halal
Deleteplease will you post the ingredients for this lipstick, does it contain carmine?
ReplyDeleteyes it does
DeleteI recently got 3 reds from the Medora range, one I later got to know is a dupe for Ruby Woo, the colour payoff is amazing, my sister says I use nail paint on my lips, it stays even after a long day out where I obviously eat and drink. highly recommend this unknown brand.
ReplyDeleteyes medora has an amazing staying power and its a great affordable option
DeleteWonderful beat ! I would like to apprentice whilst you
