Garnier BB cream is sucha love. Its vegan,it has so many good points and the low prices is cherry on top.The regular readers are aware that I reviewed the Garnier BB cream for dry skin.I liked it but as it was not suitable for my skin(oily) I couldn't use it as often as I liked.I ordered the one for oily skin from just4girls.pk.
The Garnier BB cream for oily skin comes in two shades.I got it in "light".PKR 449 form just4girls.pk.To read store review click here.
The cream comes in a longish tube of 40ml.It has to be squeezed out.The texture is creamy and thick.
It has that strong Garnier-ish scent of lemon mixed in aftershave :P Might be a bad point for some.
Coverage is medium. When swatched on hand it might look lighter, but it adjusts to skin.Doesn't look white or ashy on me.The cream is still not as yellow toned as I would like it to be,but thank God its not pinkish.
It moisturizes and then settles in a semi matte finish.A little Shine on T-zone peeks through on third hour. So,I set it with a mattifying powder.I also mix a little Ben Nye banana luxury powder in it to get a smooth finish and longer stay time.Dusting a little of the Ben Nye powder makes my skin look even and smooth too.
I apply it with my sigma F 80 flat top kabuki.Being thick it gives better results with a brush then with fingers.
[UPDATE:It oxidizes on me.I have observed a little darkening of the cream after a few hours. This happens with me alot.Using a setting powder is imperative.]
AS I have used both types of the cream,I thought it more prudent to give the readers a little comparison.

The bb cream for dry skin, although the same shade, looks a little darker then the one for oily skin. |
Pardon the shiny wrinkly look of my hand.I don't know what went wrong during editing.:( Maybe I set the photo clarity insanely high which makes my hand look old and dark :( ).
|
After spreading the cream you can see the one for dry skin is more moisturizing. The one for oily skin is semi matte. Its not dead matte however. |
|
After Blending:BB cream for dry skin has sheer coverage and moist finish. BB cream for oily skin has medium coverage and semi matte look |
Both creams leave skin soft and hydrated. The pores are blurred and skin looks brighter. Efficient stay time for the one for dry skin is 2 hour for me and for oily skin is 4 hours. After that oil makes it look a little patchy specially on cheeks where I have humongous pores.I blot and use setting powder to revive the finish.

GOOD POINTS:
1)-Affordable and easily available.
2)-Medium coverage unlike many costly bb creams.
3)-Brightens skin.
4)-Blurs pores.
5)-Hydrates skin.
6)-Oil free.
7)-Doesn't cause break outs.
8)-It can even replace your foundation depending upon the skin type.(girls with oily skin this was not for you).
BAD POINTS:
1)-Shine shows after two to three hours(I have very oily skin)2)-May not work as great in the height of Pakistani summers in june.3)-Its not very mattifying.Being a BB cream this property is somewhat mild.4)-Low SPF i-e 20 and no PA factor.
RATING:
Overall,I like this cream wayyy better then the dry skin counter part. With the help of under eye concealing,a little ben nye powder and my mattifying powder,I think this bb cream will be my companion in winter months.I have high hopes for it and will update the post.
Hope you like the review.Do tell me your own favorite BB cream.Did you use this one?How was it?

DeleteGreat review, thanks!
ReplyDeleteyou are welcome :D
DeleteAwesome comparison, Shehrzad. I've had both of them, but even with my combination skin the regular Garnier BB Cream was way better. The other one applied unevenly and left an ashy mask on my face 20 mins after going out in April-May (Lahore).
ReplyDeleteyes its pretty hard to blend with fingers.I use it with brush and set it with ben nye powder to prevent ashy look
DeleteThankyou so much for the love :)
DeleteThis is a winner for me.... <3
ReplyDeleteI am glad :D
DeleteThe oily skin one is a life saver for busy mum like me xx
ReplyDeleteI know right!i just slap it on when i have to rush.Too bad the stay time is not as long
DeleteIs this good for daily use, like in university.
ReplyDeleteI dont use anything on my skin, and want to try something worth it :D
yes absolutly. If you set it with a mattifying setting powder, this might work great for you.On some people it might turn ashy. However, you can take a chance because its not very costly and finish is always great.
Deletenice review. my oily skin loves it
ReplyDeleteThankyou Naseem ^_^
DeleteSo is it halal then?
