TARTE AMAZONIAN CLAY 12 HOUR FULL COVERAGE FOUNDATION

Hello Sugar peaches <3

I hope summers are treating you as well as they have been treating us Lahorites or Lahories :p.The weather this whole week has been charmant.

Well today's post is the most requested post by all friends. Its a high end foundation which is for oily skin and claims 12 hour of full coverage. Its vegan and famous too.Yes you guessed it.Its Tarte Amazonian clay 12 hour full coverage foundation.I will be reviewing shade Light Medium Sand.So lets check out if this baby makes a good second skin.

TARTE AMAZONIAN CLAY 12 HOUR FULL COVERAGE FOUNDATION

WITH FOUNDATION

Bare                                         Tarte Foundation                       After 5hours+2hours sleep

I got this foundation for PKR 4099 from Make and Accessories.{Read haul post plus store review here.}

I got it because it is Vegan friendly i-e free from animal based ingredients. Also because of its "12 hour" claim. Before I start the review it would be good to mention that I have extremely oily skin which is prone to break outs.I am NC30.

Lets start with the packaging.I do like it, but I won't say its very classy in a high end way.It looks more like a drugstore foundation. It looks everything like a good vegan friendly foundation should...all natural.I love the wooden cap and the  pattern on the tube too.I think these two give the foundation just the right amount of earthly touch.Close to nature.

The foundation comes in a squeeze tube.Again not very posh, but extremely useful and travel friendly.

Its a liquid foundation, but the texture is mousse like. Its not very thin nor very thick. When I first checked it I thought it would have a heavy feel. However,it is very light on skin.No heavy feeling or suffocating sensation at all.I love it for being so light and natural.

It blends easily.Well not as easily as liquid foundations should but still reasonably well.It can be a bit quick-to-set, but since I always apply base to face in sections this has never been a problem.

I use Sigma F 80 flat top kabuki to blend. It can be blended well with fingers or the beauty blender. However,a kabuki gives best results.

I have the shade Light Medium Sand which is for light medium skin tone with yellow undertones(as per website description). The shade looks warm when swatch-ed. However, it does lighten up a little and matches skin perfectly. As you can see in the swatch photo this foundation is the exact shade match for me.It blends in my skin and looks very natural.

It used to come in 8 shades only. However,Tarte has expanded the range a lot.Now it comes in 16 shades.NC 30's matching shade Light Medium(previously) has been expanded into Light Medium sand and Light medium Beige for yellow and neutral-to-pink undertones respectively.[To find shades you can try this shade finder on Tarte website. For other shade swatches this post can help].

The foundation has medium coverage not withstanding the company claim of "Full Coverage".Then comes next important question: is it build able?

Sorry girls I will never ever advice to build-it-up.It can go from natural to fake looking in a jiffy if you over do it.If applied in the right amount(a pea size for full face) it will look so natural and glowy that you will get tons of compliments. However,if you try to hide those dark circles with it or any scars, you might end up looking like a mannequin. If over done it highlights pores and scars in a very bad way. So,you have to find the right amount for your face to get the signature natural-Tarte-look.Also you can not skip your concealer with this.

It is not transfer proof. When blotted with a tissue it has a tendency to come off a little.

It does not turn orange or ashy or grey at all.You see oxidation, which is so common with many foundation, is not a problem with this one. Also, if used wisely it can really give a natural, skin like look.It is pretty yellow based. This is the most yellow based foundation I have used to date(To read about my foundation experiences read all posts here). In my experience no other brand except NARS or MAC makes such great yellow based shade in liquid foundation.

Stay time is ....NOT 12 hours.Sorry girls. In moderate summers(no power break down and all) it stays good and fresh for 5-6 hours. Then around 7-ish it fades and your skin starts peeking.By 8-9 hours oil shows and that perfect natural look is gone. So,safely I can say the wear time is 5-6 hours on oily skin. Makeup sprays do make a difference and so does the primer. It extends wear time to 7-8 hours.

My Tarte Moment in the morning

GOOD POINTS:

Vegan friendly

Natural looking

Good shade choice(at least better then most brands) especially for Asian skin

Good for acne prone skin

Has SPF

Only a pea sized amount is required so it can last you a long time.

BAD POINTS:

Costly.

Shows whitish in photos because of titanium oxide.

It is not a good options for girls with dry skin especially in winters. It might not be a good option for girls with normal/combination skin in winters. It works best in summers.

It might highlight dry patches on face so exfoliation and moisturizing beforehand is imperative.

If applied in large amount it can look whitish even if it is your perfect shade match.

So,my overall verdict is that it is indeed a great foundation with a hefty price tag.Price is the only downside that makes all the problems, like moderate wear time or whitish cast in photos, a little difficult to put up with.I mean if I was getting the same performance for half the price I would have given it all stars :-) .Still,if you face the problem of grey look or want a light foundation which gives a natural finish I say this is it.Since it is a vegan friendly foundation and made of mostly natural ingredients along with kaolin(clay) it is a good foundation for skin prone to breakouts.Girls have even reported improvement in skin condition after using this one.Personally,I can vouch for the improvement effect myself. My skin is clearer ever since I started using this one.(this is one thing MAC foundations can not promise).Nothing magical, but the effect is there.

    1. thankyou so much Maria.Your compliments always make me feel great. If you are NC 30 then there are only three shades to choose from. However you can try it in samples to avoid the risk.It is worth a shot atleast.

Seriously, after reading all about the product description on the bottle/dabba in the photos, i fell in love with it...but after reading your honest views about it im a bit...no-no...i love it being a vegan product and all and also that its good for oily acne prone skin, but since i only use foundation at night time wo bi once in a blue moon, i think this wont be a good choice for me...plus the hefty price tag!
